Written in 1996' and released in 2002' on our Debut Album - Evaporate, this was the very first Provision song!
In Love was written in one afternoon (7-1-1996') with my friend Ritchie Hey, who is now a member of Houston's own The Hunger. At the time, I was in Underground Netwerk Intelligence (U-N-I) and he was in Sensorium. We wanted to create something different and new, aside from our main projects. This was to be our side project. Something that would lie somewhere between Synthpop and Industrial Dance.
We wrote 2 songs that day. "In Love" and "Overdose".
We never came up with a band name, but called ourselves "Projekt" for a while; until we got too busy to work on it anymore.
It would be 4 more years before we had a name or even enough songs for our first E.P. But looking back, I can honestly say this was the moment when Provision was unknowingly conceived.
The songs Evaporate, In Love, and Devotion, were all written on the side while I was in both U-N-I and Bamboo Crisis; during the final years of the 1990's. And while these songs never fit in with anything I was actively pursuing, it would only be a matter of time before they would become the foundation for our first album.
In Love really didn't change much, from the first version that Ritchie and I did together. It just went through production and was polished up. Some songs just happen this way. And it's an amazing thing.
I feel the simplicity of the lyrics and the unique 12 measure chorus make In Love very special. In our first 2 years of performing live shows, this song was always very popular with the fans.
The lyrics to In Love were not written with anyone in mind. I wrote it from the point of view of falling in love. It's about that first feeling. It's the moment when you meet, and things just click. It's when you stop questioning things, because you know the feeling is real.

lyrics
In Love 116 bpm
I will take this dance.
I may seem if I'm tranced!
This is not romance, anymore.
Am I in love, with you?
I feel as if I'm one, with the World.
This is beyond all feeling.
I feel no denial.
Others have let me down.
You make me smile.

North America’s progenitors of Darkpop - a genre term used to describe the band's unique style of Edgy Synthpop on a bed of Dark Wave, known as the Provision sound.
I LOVE Iris and have every one of their albums.
This, for me, is their best album ever.
The only niggle I have is the mastering of album. There are electronic artifacts in a few of the tracks and the ticks in "Third Strike" move in a out of time with the beat. It's a real shame because it takes away from what would otherwise be a perfect album. jonmp
