Insecurity (B-Side)

Even though it was still unreleased, Insecurity was performed live on the Devotional (regional) Tour, and at almost every Provision live show until it was recorded and released in 2004.

On the Limited Edition version of our 2nd album Visualize, Insecurity appears as track #1 on the Bonus Remix disc. On the White Label
version of Visualize it appears as track #4.

When Insecurity was written, I had already healed myself from losing everything when my marriage disintegrated. I lost a lot of friends,
and as I re-discovered myself and watched the world around me; I saw many insecure people who put on a facade to mask the real pain they were hiding. It is rumored that I wrote this song with one
person specifically in mind. I have never disputed this rumour.

This was always one of my favorite songs to sing with Alex when he was in the band. Some of the best times in the band happened when
Leslie, Alex and I were performing this song. We opened for The Human League to a few thousand people and I'll never forget how well this song was received by the crowd. It doesn't get much better
than that.

Another day passes by, without a chance to regain.
You’re losing what I, would call an identity.
Walking without a name.
I’ve accepted the things I cannot control, regret won’t set me free.
I cannot forgive you. For what you’ve done to me.
Now I stand and face you, without compromise.

Insecurity. You only see what you want to see.
Insecurity. Coming apart at the seams,
infected like a disease.
Insecurity. There’s no self esteem, only broken dreams. Insecurity. Some things aren’t meant to be.

Betrayal in you grows darker now, it runs deeper than this...ocean of tears. No explanation to me, could ever save your pride.
Hiding behind a facade. As though you’ve done no wrong. I’ve suffered more than you can imagine. You could not sympathize.
Now it’s my, pain you’ll recognize.

You’re all alone with your Insecurity.
