about

Tragedy was originally written as an exclusive track for Synthphony Records to appear on a compilation album that never materialized.

Matt Coker and I recorded an original version of Tragedy. The song went through a revision after Matt's departure, and we began performing it live when Alex Virlios (Blue Images / CTRL) joined the group. Tragedy was a hit on the Evaporate U.S. Tour in 2003' at every live show where we performed it.

Carlos Covarrubias and I officially recorded Tragedy in 2004' at Covision Creative, and it was released as an exclusive B-Side on the "Could've Had It All" single released by A Different Drum.

Tragedy is a story about the initial dating stages of falling in love, when those chemicals fill your brain, and you can't think of anything else but them. Tragedy is also about the pain you experience as you begin realize the two of you don't really have much in common past the physical attraction, sex, and lust. As the honeymoon phase in dating begins to wane, real life comes into play. If you don't have enough in common, and your ideals, beliefs, and dreams of the future don't align; then you're done. You simply will not make it to the next stage. This is the unfortunate tragedy of love.

lyrics

Tragedy 128 bpm

Reflecting back on the time we shared today.
The gravitational lust remains consistent.
In this intense obsession.

A single portrait of incompatibility.
Tears me apart before I get attached.
My lust within aggression.

You’re only causing a tragedy.
I need your Love.
Please understand what it means to me.
When I feel your touch.

My loneliness in misery.
I need your love.
You’re only causing a Tragedy.
When I feel your touch.

You were reacting so differently tonight.
Was I behaving too irresponsible?
I’m waiting for an answer.

I blame the tension of sexuality.
Creating rhythm too much like machinery.
Infecting us like cancer.
